Verna Ohryn has been
beading since the late 60's, she was taught this art by the Cree Women of
Northern Manitoba. I remember having weekly get-togethers in our basement
where the women would share arts and crafts and stories. Her first pieces
were symmetrical floral designs, for mukluks and gauntlets. Soon, Verna began
experimenting with cross-stitch patterns and it wasn't long before she was
creating original award-winning designs, portraits and wildlife art.
I am pleased to present
my Mom's art to you. Her one-of-a-kind beadwork pieces, can be found in private
collections around the world. All of these pieces are created with 10/0 glass
beads on leather.
